I have the cover for Wish in One Hand. Since the launch for that book is still at least 6 weeks off, I'm going to make myself hold off showing the actual cover for a little while yet. But rather than make you all stew, here's the concept I sent to the artist when I first hired him:
And now you know for certain why I pay someone else to do my cover art.
The cover art itself will be along once I get closer to having something y'all can buy. He did a good job keeping to my overall concept and making it not look like shit.
FYI, not all my drawings are this bad.
Do you draw?
Nope! Can't draw to save my life. Always wished I could though.
ReplyDeleteAh, but you quilt and stuff, Fran. I couldn't do that to save my life.
DeleteI can do faces. Bodies? Not so much. Luckily, I have a daughter who got art/creative talent in spades. :D It's gonna be an awesome cover! Let me know when it goes on pre-order. :D
ReplyDeleteI used to be able to do faces, but it's been years since college art class and my skills have atrophied. Yes, yes, you do have a talented daughter!
DeleteThanks and I will let you know. =o)
I draw. Typically, it's the same looking person over and over. Female because for whatever reason I cannot draw males. And then sometimes little cartoon animals and such. Never anything good enough to make into a cover, though I may sketch something out like this to send to someone..
ReplyDeleteI used to do horses over and over. Just the heads, though. And cartoon animals, too. Just fun stuff. Yeah, it would be awesome if we were good enough to create our own covers, but sketching something passable for the real artist is a good skill to have. =o)
DeleteMy artistic abilities stop at the keyboard. Hahahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteEven when I was into photography, I wasn't very artistic. So glad I found writing. My drawing is pathetic (at best).
LOL, yes. You do have artistic abilities at the keyboard. Awesome way to think about it. I'm glad you found writing, too.
