Blog Suggestions?

I know this is supposed to be Wicked Wednesday, but frankly, even though they're interesting, finding and posting about serial killers is bumming me out.  I write about killers, but there's always the counterpoint of the hero to keep me balanced.  So these last couple weeks when I didn't have to post about the wicked really felt great.

Maybe I should balance them by talking about famous law enforcement officials every other week.  Unfortunately, you don't seem to hear as much about the people who were instrumental in catching the criminals as you do about the sick freaks themselves.  It might entail a lot of research.  I don't know.

So, I'll put it to you.  What do you want to see here?  What are some things that bring you to a blog and keep you coming back?  Do you enjoy the Wicked Wednesday serial killer information?  Cuz I'll do it if you guys really like it.

Additionally, what makes you comment on a blog?  I know I have my core followers... :waves: ...but I'd like to see some more people joining in the conversation.

Anyway, I'm trying to keep this blog rolling by being interesting and fun - but I'm not always sure how to do that. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

In other news, I got the cover art samples yesterday!  I have three favorites that still need to be tweaked, but they're on track for what I envision would be an attention-grabbing cover - and still convey the meat of the book.  So, I'll be sending the artist my take on the three and seeing what he can do with that.  I'll post cover art when I get something firm.

  1. What makes me comment on a blog? A question I can answer! Haha! :)

The only thing that makes me come back to your blog is you. And the fact you respond to comments. So write whatever makes you happy. And if you want comments, ask questions to get the conversation going. Easy peasy, right? :)

    1. I try to respond, Stacy. Maybe not on the same day - like now - but I try. Thanks for stopping and answering my questions! It is easy-peasy. =o)

  2. I love to see comments on my blog, and I'm always surprised at what inspires comments and what the comments are. For me to comment I have to have something more to add to the conversation than "well written" or "fun", or "interesting". Plus, I have to be able to add it right then. I'm very unlikely to come back later and write, unless that comment is just burning a hole in my brain.
As for what you post, this is why I follow a bunch of blogs. Which reminds me, I need to update my blogroll. As each new blog is updated I'll go take a look and read or not depending. There is no reliable way for a blogger to catch my attention. Sometimes I like fun frivolous posts, sometimes deep serious philosophical posts, sometimes cats, or food, or wine, or LOOK SHINY! So I would say post the things that interest you, and let your readers sort it out. That's what I do, and all dozen of my readers seem to like it.

    1. I'm glad I give you something to comment on from time to time, Keith! And yeah, I'm the same way - if I can't think of something interesting to say, I generally don't comment. Unless it's to be supportive. "Go you!" That sort of thing.

I'll keep posting what I post and hope other people find it as interesting as I do. Thanks!

  3. I'm fascinated by the serial killers etc, but I wouldn't miss it if you didn't post about it, although I do enjoy your spin on things. I'm endlessly interested in the differences between y'all over there and us Brits on this side of the pond. I feel compelled to comment when I have something to say. Now sometimes my comment is crap, banal, boring, sassy & occasionally rude (animal comment .... sorry), but the fun part is when you respond. I can almost see you shrug, grimace or snort in the reply. Don't get bogged down in any one thing. If you find it interesting, write about it because we probably will too. If it bugs you rigid, bores the pants of you or drives you up the wall, write about that too. You can even be controversial if you want. One thing I quite like is when you ask a question, like what is everyone reading or their favourite series, I love finding out what's popular and getting recommendations. Gosh I think that's enough from me .... !

    1. I think what I'll end up doing is a less often post on serial killers and mix it up with some other stuff, Fran. And I love your comments! Even the animal one. I'll keep asking questions - partly because I really am interested in the answers and partly because other people are too.

  4. I like your posts about criminal minds, but they don't need to be about the worst killers. Sometimes the "bank robber dropped his checkbook" tales are even better. Smart (or lucky) detectives would be interesting, too. Don't write about things that bum you out. Life is too short.

I only post when I have something to say. For some reason, your blogs inspire me. :-)

Hooray for your cover art! I can't wait to see it.

    1. Ah, lesser crimes. Still wicked without being overwhelmingly so.

Thanks for finding my stuff inspiring, Deb! That's awesome.

  5. Murderers are cool. So are lawmen. Cold cases. Cold cases that have been solved. Crimes in the headlines. The list is endless. I'm going to comment to you anyway. LOL But yes, general belief is a blogger needs to ask a question of the readers in order to get comments. I'm not very good at that yet but some questions that pop into my head for you, depending on the subject, would be: What is the perfect murder? What would you do if you were investigation this murder? Stuff like that there. :)

    1. Sorry this didn't post yesterday, but it got lost in the email delivery system somewhere and I didn't see it waiting there until this morning.

If you like cold cases, Silver, have you checked out the show Cold Justice yet? Their new season starts Friday night. I can't wait.

I do try to ask questions. And I even get some people to answer them. LOL Those are great question suggestions! I'll have to throw a couple in. Thanks!
